The Righteous Judge: God's Protection Over the Innocent

In a world where darkness often seems to prevail, God has always shown that He stands as a protector of the innocent. His heart is for the children—the weak and vulnerable—and He will not tolerate those who would harm them for selfish gain. The Bible paints a clear picture of God’s love and justice, where He declares that He will be the ultimate protector for those who are unable to defend themselves.

In the Old Testament, we are told that God despises those who exploit the innocent. He has always stood against the oppressors and the wicked. In Deuteronomy 27:25, it is written:

"Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen."

God’s justice is clear here—those who hurt the innocent will face consequences. The cries of the righteous reach His ears, and He will not leave the innocent to suffer without recompense.

When we look to the gospels, we see Jesus’ deep concern for children. In Matthew 18:6, He warns those who would harm children:

"But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in Me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."

Jesus’ words make it clear that God is fiercely protective of children. To harm them is to face the most severe of consequences. This is not just a call for justice but a reflection of God’s heart for the defenseless.

God's Heart for the Vulnerable

God’s protection of children goes beyond mere justice—it’s a reflection of His deep compassion for the vulnerable. In the book of Psalms, God is often described as a refuge for the weak, a fortress for those who have no one else to defend them:

"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble." (Psalm 9:9)

He sees the suffering of the innocent and will act to protect them. His eyes are upon them, and He will not allow evil to continue unchecked. The call to defend children, to stand against the darkness that seeks to harm them, is a call for us to be His hands and feet in this world.
