Purim Greeting: The Hidden Prophecy Of The Purim Feast That Foretells The Final Redemption

Every year, as the joyous echoes of “Chag Purim Sameach!” ring out, many celebrate the Purim feast with costumes, feasting, and the reading of the Book of Esther. But what if Purim is more than just a holiday? What if this ancient feast holds a hidden prophecy—a divine foreshadowing of an even greater deliverance yet to come?

Buried within the pages of the Old Testament and the Gospels of Yeshua (Jesus), the Purim feast reveals a powerful story of hidden miracles, divine reversals, and the ultimate victory of light over darkness. What does this mean for us today? Keep reading as we uncover the astonishing biblical connections between Purim and the final redemption!

The Purim Feast: A Celebration of Unseen Miracles

Purim, found in the Book of Esther, is a commemoration of how God saved His people from annihilation at the hands of the wicked Haman. The celebration includes:

Reading the Megillat Esther (Scroll of Esther) – Remembering how God worked behind the scenes to bring salvation.
Feasting and Rejoicing – Celebrating the triumph of light over darkness.
Mishloach Manot (Sending Gifts to Friends) – A sign of unity and joy.
Matanot La'Evyonim (Giving to the Poor) – Reflecting God’s heart for the needy.

Even though God’s name is never mentioned in the Book of Esther, His presence is woven into every moment. This teaches us a powerful truth—God is always at work, even when we can’t see Him!

Isaiah 45:15"Truly, You are a God who hides Himself, O God of Israel, the Savior!"

But what does this hidden hand of God in Purim have to do with Yeshua and the final redemption?

Esther and Yeshua: The Hidden Deliverers

Esther and Yeshua share a striking parallel. Both concealed their true identities until the appointed time of salvation.

Esther hid her Jewish identity in the palace until it was time to intercede for her people.
Yeshua often spoke in parables, revealing His Messiahship only to those with eyes to see.

Matthew 13:10-11"The disciples came to Him and asked, 'Why do You speak to the people in parables?' He replied, 'Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.'"

At the perfect moment, Esther revealed her identity and risked her life to save her people. Likewise, Yeshua, at the right time, revealed His mission—to offer Himself as the ultimate sacrifice for salvation!

John 10:17-18"The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord."

Just as Esther’s boldness saved the Jewish people from destruction, Yeshua’s sacrifice saved the world from eternal separation from God.

The Purim Feast and the Messianic Banquet

Purim is a feast of joy, a celebration of life over death—but it is also a prophetic picture of a greater feast to come!

The Old Testament prophesies of a future divine banquet where God’s redeemed people will dine with the King.

Isaiah 25:6"On this mountain, the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines."

Yeshua Himself spoke of this coming Kingdom feast:

Matthew 8:11"I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven."

The Purim feast is a rehearsal—a glimpse of the final celebration when Yeshua returns and reigns as King!

The Great Reversal: Purim and the Ultimate Victory

Purim is a story of reversal—Haman planned to destroy the Jewish people, but instead, he was destroyed. Mourning turned into rejoicing. Darkness was defeated by light.

This pattern of divine reversal is a theme throughout Scripture. Yeshua also spoke of the greatest reversal of all:

Matthew 19:30"But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first."

Just as Haman was hanged on the very gallows he built for Mordecai, the forces of evil were defeated in the most unexpected way—through Yeshua’s crucifixion. Satan thought he had won, but the very cross that seemed like a defeat became the instrument of victory!

Psalm 30:11"You turned my wailing into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy."

The Purim feast reminds us that God always has the final say—and that one day, all evil will be overturned for good!

Purim’s Call to Action: Will You Stand Like Esther?

Purim is not just a historical event—it is a call to action! Just as Esther was placed in the palace “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14), we too are living in a time where God is calling His people to stand up for truth.

Yeshua tells us to be bold in our faith:

Matthew 10:32"Whoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before My Father in heaven."

Are you willing to be like Esther—to stand for righteousness, even when it is difficult?

The Purim greeting is more than words—it is a declaration of faith, a reminder that God is always at work, and an invitation to trust in His ultimate redemption.

Purim and the Future: A Prophetic Glimpse of the Coming King

While Purim is a joyful holiday, it also points to the final Purim—the ultimate deliverance still to come.

Zechariah 14:9"And the LORD will be King over all the earth; on that day the LORD will be one and His name one."

Just as Esther revealed her true identity, Yeshua will fully reveal Himself as King when He returns!

Matthew 24:30"Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven... and all peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory."

On that day, just as the Jewish people celebrated their victory over Haman, we will celebrate the final victory of Yeshua over all evil, sin, and death!
